Recycle Your Mac’s Canister

Mac’s canisters and lids are made with PET—which is 100% recyclable, over and over. PET is the plastic that’s made to be remade, as it can be used in closed-loop, bottle-to-bottle recycling.

PET is lightweight, which lowers shipping costs and reduces the amount of fuel burned and emissions generated in transportation. And it melts at a lower temperature compared to glass or aluminum, which means less energy used and emissions created.

DID YOU KNOW? 1,150 tons of greenhouse gases are eliminated by recycling 200,000 PET bottles daily.

PET is the only plastic with the designation “1.” When you see the “1” inside the recycling triangle, you’ll know its PET and should be recycled.

Here are some things you can do to help the world’s #1 plastic get recycled even more:

  • Rinse PET bottles & containers thoroughly before placing them in a recycle bin

  • Lids or caps are often not made of PET, but can be recycled with the bottle if left on.

  • Do not put PET plastics in with regular trash, or they won’t be recycled.

  • Spread the good word about PET plastics among family, friends and the community.

  • Submit an article about PET recycling to your local newspaper.

  • Start your own PET recycling club.

  • Write to your state or U.S. congressional representative about the benefits of PET.

  • Offer to speak about PET recycling at your local school.
